There is forgiveness in understanding.
Understanding that she did the best she could with the tools she was given.
Understanding that the times, community, and culture didn’t prepare her for a neurodivergent child or how to cope.
A child she protected from the world as best she could, even if it made the child isolated, alone, and anxious.
Forgiveness comes from understanding.
I watched a reel about the struggles modern moms face with neurodivergent children, and I cried for my mom.
I cried for my mother, who must have been so lost, overwhelmed, and alone with her high-vibrating child.
I cried for the child she tried to help, but her protectiveness unintentionally made things worse.
I cried. I forgave.
There is forgiveness in understanding.
